Just when you think you have it all figured out, you start getting crushed under the weight of responsibilities and adulting. Sigh, life is hard.
Take a deep breath, today is your lucky day. We’ve put together a list of hacks and helpful tips to help you get through the toughest days and live life as an adult.
1. Clear your living space
There’s something therapeutic about decluttering your room and making everything neat and tidy. Also, the bedroom is where you start and end your day. You probably don’t want to start/end your day in a place that’s cluttered. It’s going to stress you out even more. Your bedroom should be a space that’s soothing. You can make it that way by simply taking a few minutes to tidy up everything that’s visible.
2. Make your bed every morning
Making your bed is an effective way to start the day. It helps you feel more in control of your space and schedule. It’s also a productive habit that will ease you into other tasks. Also, there’s nothing like coming home to a perfectly made bed.
3. Create an online schedule
Put everything in an electronic calendar that’s synced with your phone and set reminders for yourself, even for the simplest things. You should also create a to-do list every day.
4. Turn off your notifications
Phone notifications can be incredibly distracting and will prevent you from getting tasks done. Install blocking apps like offtime, and put those notifications on hold for a while.
5. Say no
Stop feeling obliged to say yes to every single thing you’re asked to do. It’s okay to say no. You’re never going to accomplish the things you need to get done if you’re constantly stretching yourself thin.
6. Save a portion of your salary every month
No matter how little it is, make sure that you’re putting something aside. It’s definitely easier to do it the moment that the money hits your account.
7. Clear your email box
Unsubscribe from newsletters that you don’t want, label your emails and use the mute, delete and archive buttons.
8. Clean out all your purses, backpacks, gym bags, totes, or work bags
We tend to keep a lot of random trash inside our bags. Empty out all the unnecessary things that you’ve collected and organise the important stuff properly.
9. Dedicate a few minutes every day to doing some exercise
Exercise helps your body feel better. Pace yourself, don’t do what you can’t handle yet. Start making small improvements and gradually move to the bigger ones.
10. Make time for yourself
Life gets so busy sometimes, that we forget to prioritise ourselves. Take out some time every day to care for yourself and do something relaxing that you enjoy, even if it’s just watching your favourite show.
NOTE: Remember to be kind to yourself and have confidence that with a little time you’ll feel back on track again.
