The Osun State governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Iyiola Omisore, has met with PDP national leader, Bukola Saraki, ahead of re-run election.
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Iyiola Omisore, has expressed his willingness to work with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Ademola Adeleke, to see to the latter’s victory at the Osun governorship re-run election scheduled for Thursday.
Recall that the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joseph Afuwape, on Sunday, declared the Osun State governorship election inconclusive, stating that since the difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes, but the number of cancelled votes was 3,498, no winner had emerged.
Adeleke (PDP) had polled 254,699, Isiaka Oyetola (APC), polled 254,345 votes, while Iyiola Omisore SDP polled 128,049 votes to place a distant third, prompting insinuations that the PDP would have beaten APC hands down had Omisore not left the party for SDP just four months ago.
Fani-Kayode in the tweet posted online, said he had spoken to Omisore, whom he described as his cousin, and said they were working together to “show Tinubu what happens when the Ifes stand together”.
The tweet read: “Iyiola Omisore will not let us down. He is my cousin and I have spoken to him. We are together. We will show Tinubu what happens when the Ifes stand together. We are going to end the APC’s reign of tyranny in the rerun on Thursday. @OfficialPDPNig’s Demola Adeleke shall prevail.”
Meanwhile, veretan journalist and publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, has just shared a photo of the national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bukola Saraki, meeting Omisore in Ile Ife, in a bid to persuade the former PDP member to transfer his supporters to Adeleke.
Momodu posted the photo and wrote: “The President of the Nigerian Senate DR ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI in Ife with SENATOR IYIOLA OMISORE and cousin BANKOLE OMISHORE, an SA to Senate President.”
Speaking with journalists after the visit, Saraki said he was confident that Senator Ademola Adeleke would win the rerun poll and become the governor of the state.
Dr Doyin Okupe, Senator Abiodun Olujimi and other PDP leaders were in the entourage of the Senate President during the visit to Omisore, who left the PDP following a protracted crisis over his governorship ambition .
